The VDMA 24001 standard sheet is the first to describe the compliant use of mechanical smoke and heat extraction devices, thus closing a long-standing gap in technical regulations.
Better protection for people in the event of a fire - modern technology in buildings, such as smoke extraction systems, can help. At a symposium, the VDMA General Ventilation Technology Association presented new findings on securing buildings in the event of a fire.
Simplify construction processes, but never compromise on standards
Our members develop and produce extraction and filter systems for occupational safety and environmental protection. They manufacture plants, systems and components for capturing and separating air pollutants.
Following a revision, the current standard sheet VDMA 24177:2020-05 "Mechanical smoke and heat exhaust ventilators for smoke extraction from buildings in the event of fire" is now available.
The expert group for smoke extraction consists of recognised experts in smoke extraction. Depending on the task, further contact persons are invited to join the circle of experts.
The standard sheet VDMA 24188, published with the issue date June 2011, has recently been translated. The standard sheet entitled "Smoke protection measures in stairwells - Smoke evacuation, smoke dilution, smoke control" is now available in both German and English.
