About ChemTECH
ChemTECH is the most important trade fair for the chemical and petrochemical industry in India and is one of the largest international events. This is also due to the fact that in addition to the chemical industry, industrial automation and process control, water and environmental services, pumps and valves, biopharma and biotechnology as well as marine equipment and many other sectors are also represented at the trade fair.
For the last edition and 50th anniversary of ChemTECH in 2024, 750 exhibitors occupied the 38,320 m² of the exhibition centre in Bombay (Mumbai). 25,871 visitors from 53 countries streamed through the gates. 28 of the exhibiting companies came from Germany, thirteen of which were part of the Offcial German Pavilion.
Since the Offical German Pavilion will not take place, interested companies may exhibit within the Indo-German Pavilion organized by the trade fairs very own organiser and supported by VDMA. Registration deadline is December 15th, 2025. More information may be found in the attached brochure.
About India
Growing population growth and investments are making the Indian market increasingly interesting for suppliers of mechanical and plant engineering. The boom that has been predicted for years is increasingly unfolding. Because India continues to import a large proportion of its chemical and petrochemical products, there are always market opportunities for German companies. In 2022, Germany will be responsible for 2% of India's total chemical imports. Conversely, Germany was also the eighth most important sales market for Indian chemicals, accounting for 3 per cent of India's chemical exports.
In 2024, Germany was the second most important export country for process engineering, only overtaken by China. Germany was able to claim a volume of 175 million euros, but showed losses compared to the previous year. This also corresponds to the total volume of around one billion euros, which fell by 6.8 per cent compared to the previous year. However, the first quarter of 2025 was already more positive again: Compared to the previous year, an increase of 79.4 per cent was generated with a volume of 76 million euros. In contrast, German imports from India fell by 6.5 per cent to 10 million euros compared to the first quarter of 2024.
